List of Prime Numbers
A prime number is a whole number greater than 1 whose only factors are 1 and itself. The first primes are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23 and 29. This tool lists every prime up to any limit you choose.
How to Use This Prime Number List
- Type a limit, such as 100, into the box.
- Press Calculate to see every prime up to that limit, the count, the largest prime, the sum and the twin prime pairs.
How to List Primes: the Sieve of Eratosthenes
- Write the numbers from 2 up to your limit.
- Circle 2, then cross out every multiple of 2.
- Circle the next number left, 3, and cross out its multiples.
- Repeat. The circled numbers are the primes.

Twin Primes
Twin primes are pairs of primes that differ by 2, like 11 and 13 or 29 and 31. Up to 100 there are 8 such pairs.

Worked Examples

- Prime numbers up to 50 : 15 primes
- Prime numbers up to 100 : 25 primes
- Prime numbers up to 200 : 46 primes
Common mistakes
- Counting 1 as prime. 1 has only one factor, so it is not prime.
- Calling 2 composite. 2 is prime, and the only even prime.
- Trusting odd numbers. 9, 15, 21 and 25 are odd but not prime.
