How to Find the Multiples of a Number
- Multiply the number by 1 to get the first multiple.
- Multiply it by 2, then 3, then 4, and keep going.
- Or start at the number and keep adding it to the last result.

The Adding Pattern
Every multiple is the one before it plus the number. For 7 that gives 7, 14, 21, 28, 35. Adding is a quick way to check your multiplying.

Multiples and the LCM
The least common multiple of two numbers is the first multiple they share. List the multiples of each number until one number shows up in both lists.
Worked Examples
Common mistakes
- Mixing up multiples and factors. Factors are never bigger than the number. Multiples are never smaller.
- Skipping a step. Count as you go, so the tenth multiple really is the number times 10.
- Looking for the biggest multiple. There is not one, because you can always multiply by one more.
